F*%K Training, Gone Skiing

If I’m honest, weeks 14 and 15 were a bit of a mess from a training point of view. Family came first, work got in the way and the weather didn’t help. I got tired of counting calories, alcohol units and counting the hours on various exercise machines. I didn’t get in the pool enough […]

Beep, Beep, Beep

Here’s a quick fire round up of the past couple of weeks. Shan’t bore you with the food or wine intake because yet again I haven’t taken any notes or indeed much notice. Enjoying my training at the minute, plus a great new gadget has given me a bit of a lift in the swimming […]

100 and something days to go…

Week 11 was a week where I didn’t record a damn thing. Not a bean. Nowt. What I do know is that I was going to race at Althorp, Northamptonshire, in the standard distance duathlon. But it was cancelled. Balls. Still, as luck would have it the boys were up for an early Sunday bike […]

Ironman food diary…

Funny old week this one. I went to see the nutritionist and she asked if I’d make a food diary of everything I ate for a week. I had to put a score out of 10,  1 being shit, 10 being awesome (we’ll call this the shitometer), for certain times of the day and I […]

149 days to go…

Download of training for week 9. This week felt much better [than last week at any rate] and the snow and ice and shit has gone. Actually felt like I was getting somewhere and when I look back it appears I’ve not only broken double figures for hours in training but I’ve also drank half […]

Why The COINS Foundation?

156 days to go…

Download of training for week 8. This week I felt was tough. Not tough in the sense that I did a lot of hard stuff, more like tough to get motivated, tough to get going. However, having said that I finally got in the pool and my pledge to be the best swimmer I can […]

163 days to snow…

A download of my training for week 7. The days are flying by. My reluctance to get back in the pool is worrying. My pledge to be the best swimmer I can be is not going well. I also measured the wine glass volume. Not good either. However, highlights this week have been the introduction […]

My Gym in the Cellar

Here’s a picture of my new gym in my old cellar. It’s a fairly simple Argos set up mixed with some other rubbish that I found in the garage. I have an old fan, and old dehumidifier, a plastic chair from Ikea and a bucket (for the fan to sit on). There are no mirrors, […]

169 days to go…

A download of my training for week 6. Highlights this week included getting in the pool and repeatedly falling off the TT bike whilst trying to master rollers. I also tried a new approach to wine consumption, in that I’ve introduced red wine into the equation. So far so good…
